Petra Malisan, Program Manager of the UNESCO Chair on Intersectoral Safety for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience at the University of Udine, is a Civil Engineer and holds a PhD in Energy and Environmental Engineering Sciences.
She has nearly two decades of experience in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience, with a strong focus on multi-hazard safety assessments, capacity building, and the development of innovative methodologies for safer communities. Petra manages international projects collaborating with UNESCO, European institutions, and local governments to strengthen disaster resilience through science, education, and culture.
Her work includes designing and implementing training programs, coordinating global networks, and contributing to policy-oriented research on DRR. As co-lead of international working groups and co-author of numerous scientific publications, she actively promotes knowledge transfer and academic outcomes that bridge research and practice in building resilient societies.
